The vineyard of Château Hermitage Saint Martin dates from around the year 1000. Before that, the vineyard comprised two neighbouring sites. There was a large house on the side of a hill with its vines around it, which formed the estate called La Toche. And a house for the monks called the Hermitage Saint Martin "le loin". This place was recognised by the Church and became a monastery.

It was not until 1999 that Guillaume Enzo Fayard bought the vines of Saint Martin La Toche and renamed it Château Hermitage Saint Martin. He was then 21 years old. The vineyard was about to be reborn.

In the commune of La Londe Les Maures, the estate is on the side of a hill. It has a south-east exposure and benefits from regular sunshine from daybreak. The surrounding massifs retain the clouds so it benefits from rainfall. In addition, the Mistral wind is slowed down, so the vines are protected from its vigour and the branches break less.

The estate enjoys good weather conditions with at least 275 days of sunshine in a year.

The soil is clay-limestone with many stones. It resembles the soil where Bandol is grown, so it is a perfect soil for making great red wines.

Château Hermitage Saint Martin comprises 30 hectares of which only 10.5 hectares are planted with vines.

Goes well as an aperitif, with fish, dessert or shellfish.

The Saint-Martin Hermitage was created around the year 1000 by the monks of Saint Victor. Shortly after the revolution, it was abandoned and then totally destroyed during the Second World War. Since 1999, Enzo Fayard, dynamic and rigorous, has combined the family's know-how with modern winemaking techniques to revive this vineyard.

The vineyards of Château Hermitage Saint-Martin are located in Cuers, a small wine-producing village in the Var, north of Toulon. The estate extends over 17 hectares of heavily stony clay-limestone soil at the foot of the rocky bars of Cuers. The selected grape varieties enjoy very favourable weather conditions and optimal sunshine.

A forerunner and concerned about the environment, the estate has been practising 100% organic farming since 2003, certified by the ECOCERT organisation. In addition to organic farming, Château Hermitage Saint-Martin ensures 100% plant-based production (no animal inputs).
